2019-2020 Q2/S1 Interim Assessment Updates

The testing window for quarterly and semester assessments opens next week. Please see below for important information regarding tests you may be administering to students.If you have any questions, please contact whomever is responsible for that test at your site.

ELA/ELD ASSESSMENTS:

Kinder – 1st Grade EarlyReading in FastBridge

  • Administered 12/09 – 12/19
  • Kinder Subtests-
    • FB – Letter Names (given until mastered)
    • FB – Letter Sound
    • FB – Onset Sounds
    • FB – Word Segmenting
    • FB- Nonsense Words
  • First Grade Subtests-
    • FB – Word Segmenting
    • FB – Nonsense Words
    • FB – Sight Words (150)
    • FB – CBMreading

Kinder – 2nd Grade EL Benchmark

  • Administered 12/09 – 12/19
  • Kinder Subtests-
    • EL – Spelling (begin with early Partial Alphabetic Word List)
  • First Grade  Subtests-
    • EL – Spelling (begin with Full Alphabetic Word List)
    • EL – Decoding (begin with Middle Full Alphabetic Word List)
  • Second Grade Subtests-
    • EL – Spelling (begin with Consolidated Alphabetic Word List)
    • EL – Decoding (begin with Early Consolidated Alphabetic Word List)

2nd – 5th Grade FastBridge

  • Administered 12/09 – 12/19
  • Teachers will administer the aReading assessment and the first CBM passage in FastBridge. 
  • Teachers do not need to administer AUTOReading as this will just further impact instructional time.

3rd – 5th Grade ELA Interims

  • Administered 12/10 – 12/19
  • ALL ELL students take the ELA Interim.   
  • 3rd – 5th grade interims include a reading and a writing component which should be scheduled for 2 days within the window.
  • Each S1 Interim assessment has 28-30 questions including 1-2 short constructed responses.
  • Short constructed responses must be scored in Illuminate by 3:00 p.m. on December 20.  

ELD Stages III-V (grades 3-12) 

  • May be administered at any time by December 19
  • The only ELD Benchmark in Illuminate for Semester 1 is the Quarter 1 assessment, that has been kept open to use during Quarter 2 as well.
  • The benchmark is not mandated and there are no deadlines. However, it is a powerful tool to assess which ELP standards students, especially intermediate ELL students, need to focus on before the AZELLA Reassessment beginning the first week of February.

6th – 11th Grade ELA Interims

  • Administered 12/10 – 12/19
  • ALL ELL students take the ELA Interim. 
  • Each S1 Interim assessment has 28-30 questions including 1-2 short constructed responses.
  • Short constructed responses need to be scored in Illuminate by  3:00 p.m. on December 20.

6th – 12th Grade Embedded assessment essays

  • Essays need to be uploaded into Illuminate by December 20.
  • Embedded essay scores need to be entered into Illuminate by January 10.

MATH INTERIMS:

  • There are no constructed responses needing to be scored by teachers.
  • Student scores MAY NOT be edited. Contact Maggie Hackett if a scoring error is thought to occur and, if needed, it will be addressed district-wide.
  • Points will not be awarded if the student uses the letter x instead of the multiplication symbol or includes the units in their response (e.g. typing “3 inches” instead of “3”).

SCIENCE ASSESSMENTS:

*Can be administered in the regular science class period

6th & 7th Grades

End of unit assessments in Edgenuity

8th Grade

End of unit assessment in Illuminate

Elementary and High School

Assessments embedded in their curriculum units

SOCIAL SCIENCE:

6th – 11th Grade

  • Students should upload their completed inquiry sample writings to Illuminate by December 19.  
  • Teachers must enter rubric scores into illuminate by January 15.

CIVICS EXAM:

8th Grade

  • Students should complete the exam in Illuminate by December 19
  • Standard test security MUST be followed. (details linked here)
  • Daily testing codes will be shared with teachers and administrators via email the week PRIOR to the scheduled testing.
